I really wanted to work as a songwriter not having to worry about singing or performing my own songs live. But I didnt know of anyone who wanted to record my songs so I thought I might as well record them myself. Actually I really love recording, seeing the songs taking shape and watch them grow from your original ideas is just great.
- Especially when you get to do it with good friends and wonderful musos.
On this, my first album (I certainly hope not the last) we did 14 songs and the idea was to select between 8 and 10 for the album. The problem is that when the songs are finally recorded you dont really want to leave any of them out.
Its also a great feeling when people come up to you and tell you their favorites from the album and almost everyone have different ones. CHEERS!
The album was recorded during spare time in 2007. We did the major tracks in the first 2 weeks when I managed to get some time off work. Then we did some overdubs etc. during the spring and summer. The mixing was done in late September and the mastering right before the pressing in the beginning of November.
The songs on Better To Take A Stand are from different times of my life.
A lot of the material is newly written but bits and pieces and some whole songs are really old,
with the title track being well over 10 years. You know how it is, songs and parts of songs are lying around everywhere in your head.
I guess sometimes youve got to close the books to get a fresh start.
The lyrics are often very personal and my idea of society, friends, love and life in general.
The music is very mixed from what I have managed to pick up in my 40 odd years.
Of course my years in the US made a big impact as well as the Sunday Nights at Akkurat.
So you get a little bit of Pop, Americana, Country, Adult Rock and sometimes even Heavy Rock and it all melts together quite beautifully. Anyway I think so!
The idea of this site is to present myself and my music.
If anyone is looking for songs, please contact me.
If you like I can try to write something to order.
In the future maybe I will add demo songs to the site as well.
If I do any live gigs it will be presented on this page.
If you like you can always sign up for the newsletter though I dont know how much news there will be.
Anyway, I really hope you enjoy listening to the music as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
See ya at the bar!
