Mikael Zifa Eriksson, singer and songwriter, grew up in the small village of Semendua in central Africa. Zifa spent the first 16 years of his life in the Democratic Republic of Congo where his participation in choir singing and drumming influenced Zifa´s stylized song writing. In 1997 he formed his band in Stockholm, Sweden. With three CD-album realeases, two on Universal; The last dog in 1997, Right as rain in 1999, and the third released independently, Zifa has captured a wide swedish audience. The third album, Africa Café was recorded live in Guinée-Conakry and released in 2004. Zifa has performed on radio and television broadcasts in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Guineé-Conakry and Sénégal and the band has firmly established a great reputation as a live act. In addition to having played some of the largest venues in Sweden, Globen, Stockholm Stadion and Berwaldhallen, Zifa has a reputation for delivering steaming hot concerts in venues all over the country. Between december 2005 and may 2006 Zifa and vocalist Ladi Mbengani, composed, recorded and performed new choir music with 20 handpicked vocalists. The project under the name of Coeur d´Afrique, in collaboration with the Swedish nonprofit organization Diakonia, together with SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency) raised 1,3 million USD for the poor in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
