Liam Elion & Tilda Björnberg are a newly formed Stockholm-based trombone and piano duo,
where the traditions of jazz meet free improvisation. Through an intimate interplay between
composition and spontaneity, the duo explores timbre, space, and musical responsiveness.
Their music places a clear emphasis on the nuances of the moment: sound, dynamics, silence, and
the interplay between two musicians. Original compositions meet personal interpretations of jazz
repertoire, including The Meaning of the Blues.
In May 2027, the duo will release their debut album, Models, on Havtorn Record / The Orchard.
Liam Elion is a jazz trombonist, double-bassist and composer. He released his debut album
“Almost Free!” in September 2023 on Varva Records and Music and is currently working in several
projects as a sideman. He has performed in Germany with FUTUR II (15+ concerts,) France and
Denmark with Berlin Brain Flippers, Denmark with Thomas Wandborg Quartet, and at Jimmy
Glass Jazz Bar in Valencia.
Tilda Björnberg is a pianist and improviser whose artistry moves in the borderland between jazz
and contemporary improvised music. With her inventive style and distinctive artistic voice, she is a
prominent figure on the Scandinavian music scene. Björnberg is seen in the duo Tilda Björnberg/
Jon Lipscomb (SE/US) and in Wierup Björnberg Duo (SE).
